Gerald, Mo. – Three men are safe after a trench collapse yesterday in Gerald, Missouri southwest of St. Louis.
The city employees were working on a sewer line. One was able to free himself shortly after the collapse. Emergency crews rescued another several hours later.
But the third man, who was trapped from his waist down, was not freed until 9 Sunday night, after more than six hours. He was flown to a St. Louis-area hospital.
