Springfield, Ill. – Immigration is proving to be a hot topic this week in both the Missouri and Illinois capitals.
In Missouri, the House on Monday voted to make police ask about the immigration status of everyone they arrest. In Illinois, lawmakers this week could debate whether illegals should have driving privileges.
Immigrant groups say the Illinois plan will improve road safety because it would require those motorists to carry insurance. But others see it as a reward for breaking immigration laws.
