Jefferson City, MO. – Missouri Governor Matt Blunt's administration is firing back about the legality of his plan to use student loan proceeds for college buildings.
Attorney General Jay Nixon blasted the plan Wednesday, calling it ill-conceived and suggesting it was illegal for a variety of reasons.
A day later, Blunt responded with the chief counsel for his Office of Administration. Henry Herschel says the plan is on firm legal ground.
The MOHELA board will consider the plan tomorrow to sell off $350 million in student loans.
