Jefferson City, Mo. – Governor Blunt has selected a conservative St. Louis attorney to be his next chief of staff.

The Republican governor says Ed Martin will take over his staff September 1.

He replaces Ken McClure, who is leaving later this month to become an administrator at Missouri State University.

Martin currently is the chairman of the St. Louis Board of Election Commissioners, a position to which he was appointed by Blunt.

Martin also is an attorney for the anti-abortion group Americans United for Life.

And he is the former treasurer of the Missouri affiliate of All Children Matter, a "school choice" group that has supported Blunt.
