Columbia, Mo. – A final report conducted by two independent investigators has brought to light the details surrounding the resignation of former Mizzou basketball coach Quinn Snyder.
But it comes to no firm conclusions on what should happen next. The investigators Jean Paul Bradshaw and Dalton Wright say it's not their job to make recommendations.
However, they do suggest MU put one person in charge of public communication in "crisis" situations.
Bradshaw said the "layers of bureaucracy" in the MU Athletic Department contributed to miscommunication in the wake of Snyder's resignation. Yet, in the end, Snyder still would have been gone.
"He did the right thing for the university," Bradshaw said. "I think the university did the right thing by him. It was an end that everybody knew was going to be reached. It could have been handled better in terms of getting to that end. But nobody was cheated. No laws were broken."
The report also says a "strained" relationship between Snyder and MU Athletic Director Mike Alden contributed to the miscommunication.
The investigators say that's partly why Alden's assistant Gary Link was forced to make a now-famous visit to tell Snyder he would be fired.
