Charges against dump truck driver in Six Flags crash

By AP/KWMU

Clayton, MO – The driver of a dump truck that slammed into a minivan near Six Flags last year now faces charges of involuntary manslaughter.

Five relatives in that van were killed in the crash on I-44; 12 others were injured in other cars.

St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch announced the charges Monday against Thomas Miskel, 43, of Imperial.

Investigators say Miskel failed to notice cars stopped in front of him; his truck was loaded with gravel.

The five who died were on their way to Six Flags in Eureka.

The wreck spurred a series of changes on a stretch of roadway responsible for 20 fatalities over the past decade.
