St. Louis, MO – Concealed gun permits will likely be a step closer to being issued in St. Louis County and City.
Governor Matt Blunt today (Tuesday) is scheduled to sign into law a measure to clarify how sheriffs recoup the cost of issuing the permits.
Officials in the City and County haven't yet issued them because they've said it would - until now - create an unconstitutional cost burden. The Missouri Supreme Court agreed, ruling that concealed guns are okay, but that the funding mechanism established in the original law was unconstitutional.
The law being signed will allow sheriffs a way to recoup administrative costs, so the counties won't lose money issuing the permits.
INSURANCE FORMS
It will also soon be harder to find out what complaints people have filed against insurance companies in Missouri.
Blunt is also set to sign legislation that would close those records that are filed with the state's Insurance Department.
Supporters say it keeps consumers names private. But opponents say it's just a way to keep the companies from bad publicity if they're doing something wrong.
SERVICE DOGS
Another piece of legislation that will be signed into law today would make it a crime to harm a service dog.
