Jefferson City, MO – The state agency in charge of Missouri's Medicaid program says about $3 million has come in this year through stronger efforts at detecting fraud.
The Department of Social Services said Wednesday the effort has included hiring a private contractor to look for the fraud.
The state also has new computer programs to help detect billings that don't add up.
Meantime, Governor Matt Blunt's office says the state will save more than $1.5 million by privatizing 68 full-time janitorial and security jobs.
The workers at state offices in Springfield and St. Louis have already been privatized. Jobs in Kansas City and St. Joseph soon will be.
