St. Louis, MO. – About 2,000 people are gathering in St. Louis this weekend for the National Conference for Media Reform.
The non-partisan group Free Press organized the conference.
Executive Director Josh Silver says the three-day event includes citizens, policy makers, and academics who think the American media system is flawed.
"There is growing sentiment across the country white collar, blue collar; left wing, right wing; liberal, conservative, that the current media system is failing to provide the crucial information that we need to make the informed decisions of a democracy," Silver said.
Silver made his comments Thursday on KWMU's St. Louis on the Air.
The conference, which is sold out, will include speakers Al Franken of Air America Radio and former Now host Bill Moyers.
It begins Friday.
