Jefferson City, Mo. – Governor Holden says Missouri efforts at informing veterans of benefits have improved, but more work must be done.
Holden spoke today to a task force working on the issue in Jefferson City. He had directed the group to focus on reaching veterans just returning from duty in places such as Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as on minorities, and those in urban areas.
Holden says the number of Missouri veterans receiving benefits and the amount paid out has increased significantly in the past few years.
The Veterans Commission task force has been working for a couple of years to encourage more Missouri veterans to seek various benefits.
Commission members Monday shared ideas about which programs are effective and what more can be done.
