St. Louis – The Democratic candidates for Missouri governor have agreed to two broadcast debates in July.
Governor Bob Holden will debate challenger Claire McCaskill, the state auditor, on July 19th in Kansas City, and July 20th in St. Louis.
Both debates are sponsored by coalitions of local media, including KWMU.
Organizers say the debates will be made available to broadcasters statewide.
McCaskill had criticized Holden for not immediately agreeing to debate her.
The Kansas City organizers went so far as to tell Holden that McCaskill would be given solo air time if he didn't show up.
The primary election is August third.
