Springfield, Ill – The Illinois Tollway board Monday voted unanimously to rename its portion of Interstate 88 Ronald Reagan Memorial Tollway.
The board voted during a special meeting to change the name of the East-West Tollway that runs from the Chicago area to the Quad Cities.
Governor Rod Blagojevich issued an executive order last week renaming the part of the highway managed by the state Transportation Department in honor of Reagan, the only Illinois native to become president.
Interstate 88 passes just south of Dixon, where Reagan lived until he was 21.
