Jefferson City, MO – Most Missouri state workers will have Friday off as part of a day of mourning for former President Reagan.
Federal offices and major financial markets had already announced they'd be closed. There will also be no mail delivery.
Vice President Dick Cheney has cancelled a rally in Springfield Missouri, as well, which was scheduled for Friday. That's the day of Reagan's funeral.
Reagan died Saturday of pneumonia after a long fight with Alzheimer's disease.
Holden says the state closure is in keeping with Missouri's tradition of honoring presidents in this fashion. His spokeswoman says state offices also closed when Lyndon Johnson died in 1973 and Harry Truman died in 1971.
