New York, NY – Several Missouri companies made the Fortune 500 list of the nation's largest companies.
The highest Missouri-based company on the list is St. Louis's Anheuser-Busch. For the second straight year, the company ranks 142nd on the list, having made just over $14 billion last year.
St. Louis-based May Department Stores, which owns store chains including Famous-Barr and Lord & Taylor, ranks just behind AB at 147th. May had revenues of $13.3 billion and ranked 144th on the list in 2003.
Express Scripts, another St. Louis company, appears as the 151st biggest company in the U.S, down from 147th last year. The nation's third-largest prescription drug insurer posted revenue of $13.29 billion dollars. Other Missouri-based companies on the list include: Kansas City-based Farmland Industries; Creve Coeur-based Monsanto; Town and Country-based Charter Communications; St. Louis-based Ameren; Carthage-based Leggett & Platt; St. Louis-based Graybar Electric; and Kansas City-based H&R Block and Interstate Bakeries.
