Jefferson City, MO – Prospects are increasing for a partial state government shut-down in Missouri.
The new fiscal year starts on Tuesday, and Wednesday the Republican-led House flexed its muscle -- again sending the Senate public school and higher education budgets Governor Holden dislikes.
A Senate vote is scheduled Friday on the bills, which Holden already has vetoed twice.
There's no sign of compromise between Republican lawmakers and the Democratic governor.
Holden wants lawmakers to raise more money for schools by passing new taxes on casinos, and ending some business tax breaks.
The GOP is not considering his proposals.
