Bosley Re-introduces Smoking Ban

By M. Sepic, KWMU

St. Louis, Mo. – The St. Louis Board of Aldermen began a new session today. 3rd Ward Alderman Freeman Bosley Senior has re-introduced a bill that would ban smoking in all city-owned buildings, including Lambert Airport.

Bosley proposed the change to the city's smoking ordinance last summer, but officials wanted to test the air at the airport first.

"We've had a study made of the quality of air in the airport, and I'm very
optimistic that the study will show that the airport should be included in the smoking ordinance as well," Bosley said.

The city spent $450,000 to install eight ventilated smoking lounges at Lambert.

St. Louis is one of a few major cities to allow smoking in public buildings.
