Edwardsville, Ill. – The cleanup continues in Edwardsville after the community was pummeled for days by rain, damaging dozens of homes.
Edwardsville got about nine inches of rain, and that caused foundations to buckle on some houses. Officials say 45 homes suffered some sort of damage.
Edwardsville's fire chief says the intense rain Monday overwhelmed the city's storm sewers.
The water collected in low-lying areas and flooded homes. Damage estimates are not yet available.
