St. Louis, MO – The man accused of gunning down the popular pastor of a Metro East church is improving.
A spokeswoman for St. Louis University Hospital says doctors have upgraded 27-year-old Terry Sedlacek's condition from serious to fair. He was injured Sunday in a struggle with two parishioners of the First Baptist Church of Maryville, who were trying to subdue him after a shooting that killed the Rev. Fred Winters.
Both parishioners were also injured in the struggle - one remains hospitalized.
Sedlacek has been charged with murder and aggravated battery in Rev. Winters's death. His attorney has entered a not guilty plea.
Funeral services for the pastor are Friday at his former church
