Maplewood, Mo. – A park in the St. Louis suburb of Maplewood will be named after a rookie firefighter who was killed on the job last month.
On Wednesday the city council unanimously approved a plan to change the name of Junior High Park to Ryan Hummert Park.
The 22-year-old was shot and killed while responding to a vehicle fire last month.
Two police officers were also wounded in the ambush.
The council is also considering building a memorial for Hummert at the park.
