St. Louis – A soccer player died Monday after a freak accident at a park in St. Louis.
Ranger Chief Dan Stritzel said Karrar Abudarb, 19, died Monday night just before 8:00 at Wilmore Park after a makeshift steel goal collapsed on him.
Stritzel says the man was practicing with a group of teammates and was doing chin-ups on the goal when it collapsed and crushed his skull.
Stritzel said teammates tried unsuccessfully to revive the man. Park employees removed the makeshift goals.
The park provides aluminum goals that are secured in the ground, he said.
