Dump truck driver pleads guilty, released from jail

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – A dump truck driver who caused a wreck that killed five people on Interstate 44 near Six Flags St. Louis pleads guilty to five counts of involuntary manslaughter, but will serve no further jail time.

Thomas Miskel of Imperial was sentenced this morning to one year in jail, but given credit for time served. He was also placed on probation for five years as part of a plea agreement. Miskel could have faced up to 20 years in prison.

The accident happened in July of last year when Miskel's dump truck loaded with crushed rock slammed into a minivan from behind without braking in a congested area near the amusement park.

The crash killed minivan driver Angela Huckaba, her two young children, and her teenage siblings.
