Jefferson City, Mo. – Two weeks ago, a group of House Republicans announced news conferences to unveil their plan for revamping driver's license offices.
But then they canceled them, saying Governor Blunt wanted to discuss the issue.
Friday, House Republicans said the media tour is back on, scheduled for Monday in Kansas City, St. Louis and Springfield.
So what changed? The leader of the plan is House freshman Ryan Silvey of Kansas City. He says they're ready to move forward. He says lawmakers still have NOT met with the governor but hope to sometime.
But Silvey says it's time to share the idea publicly.
License offices have been a sore point with Democrats since Blunt took office. They always were a way to reward political supporters. But Blunt angered many by making the eleven state-run offices private.
