Suspect in fatal poisoning is found dead

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – An autopsy will be performed on a woman in suburban St. Louis who was found dead just as she was to be charged with second-degree murder.

Investigators declined to say whether Tamara Rallo killed herself. Police found her body at her home on Saturday as they were about to arrest her.

Rallo's longtime boyfriend, nuclear physicist John Mullen, died last June hours after complaining of an upset stomach. Investigators determined that Mullen, 67, was killed by a large dose of arsenic placed in a health supplement drink. Rallo, 52, had long been suspected in the death.

Police say the motive in the murder appeared to be his unwillingness to further their relationship, with money also possibly playing a role.
