St. Louis, MO. – Missouri Highway Patrol detectives are looking for a rifle they think was used to kill Patrol Sergeant Carl Graham, Jr.

Graham was killed last month outside his home in the southeast Missouri town of Van Buren.

Twenty-eight-year-old Lance Shockley has been charged with first degree murder in the case.

Highway Patrol Sergeant Jason Clark says investigators are looking for a .243 caliber rifle.

"The .243 under normal circumstances is generally used for hunting or target practice," Clark said. "But certainly, there's probably some other reasons to possess that rifle other than hunting or target practice."

Clark says finding the weapon is not essential to prosecuting Shockley, but it would be a big help.

Anyone with information can call the highway patrol at 1-800-877-3452.
