East St. Louis, Ill. – Two Democratic committeemen in East St. Louis, along with a City Hall worker, appeared Wednesday before a federal grand jury investigating voter fraud.
The proceeding took place behind closed doors.
Subpoenas were issued last month that asked committeemen to produce records like budgets, receipts, checks, deposit slips and bank statements. FBI agents also seized computer equipment and documents from City Hall.
Precinct committeemen Rudy McIntosh and Anthony Tarvin, and Department of Regulatory Affairs inspector Yvette Johnson declined to comment after testifying.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Hal Goldsmith says federal law prohibits prosecutors from discussing grand jury matters.
