St. Louis, MO – Voters in the Metro-East didn't just pick nominees for President and U.S. Senate.
A number of local issues were also on the ballot.
Voters in Venice, Ill. approved two questions that will keep the school district there open.
District officials will now be able to borrow $500,000 to pay off debt. They'll also be able to shut down the high school and send those 58 high schoolers to other nearby schools.
Acting Superintendent Richard Basden has said that move would allow more resources to pay for the part of the school building where grades K-8 are taught.
Voters in Madison County dissolved the entire Livingston School District. Students there will be sent to nearby Staunton schools.
Tax questions failed in the Triad (65-35%) and O'Fallon (57-43%) School Districts.
They passed in the Central (55-45%) and Smithton (51-49%) School Districts.
A St. Clair County-wide increase to phone bills to pay for improved 911 service failed, as did two questions over ambulances and public safety in Alton.
Longtime incumbents Congressman Jerry Costello and State Representative Wyvetter Younge easily defeated their party opponents.
