New York, NY – The American soldiers were named Time's Person of the Year Sunday, but a Missouri soldier is one of the three on the magazine's cover.

Sergeant Ronald Buxton, of the central Missouri town of Lake Ozark, was picked to help represent the 1.4 million men and woman in the U.S. military, which led the invasion of Iraq nine months ago and a week ago captured deposed leader Saddam Hussein.

About 130,000 U.S. troops remain in Iraq, with others deployed in Afghanistan, South Korea and elsewhere.

The 2003 Person of the Year package, on newsstands Monday, features an artillery survey unit from the First Armored Division to tell the story of the American soldier.
