Dinner & Dialogue: Talking about Touchy Topics
Dinner & Dialogue: Talking about Touchy Topics
We increasingly struggle to discuss "hot button" social issues — affirmative action, gender-affirming care, the war in Gaza — with people with whom we might disagree. Moreover, the need to get better at having conversations about difficult social issues has never been more urgent. But how do we actually go about doing it? What does talking about controversial, "emotionally charged" issues look like in practice? Join us for a conversation with Tiffany Robertson, founder of Touchy Topics Tuesday, a St. Louis organization that explores, develops, and disseminates communication tools to support discussions about race, religion, and politics, and Ron Mallon, Professor of Philosophy and Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology at WashU.
This event is sponsored by the Frick Initiative and the Weidenbaum Center on the Economy, Government, and Public Policy.
