Benjamin Kaplan: Sleep Faster, We Need the Pillows

Benjamin Kaplan: Sleep Faster, We Need the Pillows

Sleep Faster, We Need the Pillows is a dynamic and immersive site-specific installation by Benjamin Kaplan that draws inspiration from the rich tapestry of modern Jewish life and the enduring traditions of the diaspora. This captivating work skillfully weaves together elements of contemporary art with deep-rooted Jewish cultural motifs. This thought-provoking installation invites contemplation of identity, heritage, and the fluid natural narratives.

Kaplan is a post-disciplinary artist living and working in St. Louis, known for his narrative-driven work that transcends boundaries and genre. He is most known for Documentia, an exhibition that explores the dementia mind at The Kranzberg Gallery; Living Like Kings: The Unexpected Collision of Chess and Hip Hop at the World Chess Gall of Fame; Midsummer Night’s Dream, a collaboration with STL Shakespeare; and Currents, a light and sound installation in collaboration with sculptor Jill Downen at Center of Creative Arts (COCA).

Additionally, Kaplan is the founder and creative director of House of Blonsky, a modern Jewish design lab harmonizing tradition and contemporary aesthetics.

The opening reception of Sleep Faster, We Need the Pillows will be October 6th, 5-8pm, with live music, art activities for all ages, the Foundry bar, and more.

Exhibition will be on view through November 18th.
