If you heard that a barge hit the Martin Luther King bridge, it's true, but don't worry about adjusting your commute to avoid this part of the mighty Mississippi.

The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating why a barge hit a pier on the bridge, causing four barges to briefly break free but leaving no apparent structural damage to the span.

Engineers planned to inspect the bridge later Monday. The barge that hit the bridge operated by Marquette Transportation happened shortly after 2 a.m. Monday.
