St. Louis, MO – The St. Louis-based utility Ameren UE is buying a power plant near Vandalia, Mo. from a company in New Jersey for $115 million.
The move will boost energy production for Ameren and also potentially mean higher profits.
The company sells electricity within Missouri at regulated prices, but it can sell extra electricity it generates on the open market.
The Audrain Power Station will be Ameren's biggest natural gas-fired plant in Missouri.
