St. Louis, MO – A defrocked priest who agreed to make payments to four St. Louis area victims of sexual abuse has filed for bankruptcy in Florida.
Four men filed three lawsuits against the St. Louis Archdiocese and the former Reverend Robert Yim, alleging sexual abuse when they were children in the 1970s through 1990s.
The archdiocese agreed to settlements totaling roughly $300,000 in 2004 and made those payments earlier this year.
But the 57-year-old Yim also agreed as an individual earlier this year to make payments to the same four men in similar amounts. He filed for bankruptcy in Miami on September 13th, throwing into question whether those men will get the money.
