Humane Society Takes 57 Dogs from Ozark Home

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis – Fifty-seven dogs have been removed from what the Humane Society of Missouri calls an animal hoarder in the Ozarks.

The dogs, including 25 puppies, were taken to St. Louis Thursday for treatment and evaluation.

Humane Society officials are hopeful all the dogs will survive and will be able to be put up for adoption.

The dogs were taken from a home near Ozark, in Christian County, thin and suffering from poor nutrition.

Many suffered from fleas and ticks, and some puppies appeared anemic from parasite infestation.

The owner will not face criminal charges in this case but has one animal abuse charges pending from a previous case. He voluntarily surrendered the animals.
