Jefferson City, MO – A Democratic state senator wants to force Governor Matt Blunt to fly on state-owned airplanes.

Blunt says he's saving tax money by paying for chartered flights with campaign money.

But Democratic Senator Chuck Graham of Columbia says he's concerned about safety, noting a corporate plane Blunt was in had to make an emergency landy last month.

Graham's legislation would require all statewide elected officials to use a state airplane when flying in Missouri on official business. But a Blunt spokesman calls that "fiscally irresponsible."
