St. Louis, MO – The Highway Patrol says the fatal crash near Six Flags Thursday started when a dump truck rear-ended a minivan.
All five people in that minivan died.
The Patrol says the truck driver told them he didn't see a line of cars stopped ahead of him until it was too late.
The wreck near the I-44 exit for Six Flags closed westbound lanes for hours. A dozen other people in other cars also went to the hospital.
Killed were the van's 30-year old driver, Angela Huckaba, along with her two sons and her teenage brother and sister from St. Charles.
The stretch of I-44 near the amusement park has been the site of numerous accidents, sometimes when traffic backs up to exit to Six Flags. Just two weeks ago, two men from Kansas died near the same site.
