Ill. Senate delays action on gambling expansion
Ill. Senate President John Cullerton's office says he'll be at a meeting with Gov. Pat Quinn this morning. A Senate committee Wednesday discussed a measure based on Quinn's requirements for more gambling. He wants five new casinos in Illinois, including one in Chicago, but not slot machines at race tracks.
Quinn's office says the new legislation is not a "serious effort" to address his concerns. Lawmakers have said a measure along the lines Quinn wants cannot get enough votes to pass. They want him to go along with the version that includes slots at race tracks.
