On Friday’s episode of St. Louis on the Air, host Don Marsh went behind the headlines to discuss the mounting effort to bring a Major League Soccer team to St. Louis.

The decision to make a bid for an MLS team — spearheaded by two St. Louis families – has been attracting both local and national attention.

Joining Marsh for the conversation were Jack Croghan and Brian Howe.

Croghan is program administrator for Webster University’s new Sports & Entertainment Management program. He's described the prospect of a women-owned MLS franchise as "tremendously positive for St. Louis' reputation as a sports town."

Howe, a local attorney, has been involved in the St. Louis soccer community for about 50 years as both a player and a coach. He was instrumental in starting the MLS-affiliated Sporting St. Louis youth club eight years ago and also volunteers with New Dimensions, a nonprofit soccer outreach program serving the St. Louis community.
