The number of heroin deaths in St. Louis County has decreased in recent months when compared to recent years, however, use of and addiction to the drug in the St. Louis area has grown to epidemic proportions.
In fact, St. Louis city, and St. Charles, Jefferson and Franklin counties in Missouri, and Madison County in Illinois may be on pace for more heroin deaths this year than last, as the St. Louis Post Dispatch reported in May.
Host Don Marsh talks with Dan Duncan, Director of Community Services for the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse – St. Louis Area, and Michael Morrison, Chief Executive Officer at Bridgeway Behavioral Health.
Among other things, they will talk about the growing incidence of heroin use and new ways to prevent and treat addiction.
The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse provides a variety of educational services and counseling to prevent and treat drug and alcohol abuse. Bridgeway Behavioral Health provides services to those struggling with substance abuse, addiction and co-occurring mental health problems.
