St. Louis – Prosecutors in St. Louis have charged a 19-year-old Illinois man in connection with a drag racing accident that left another teenager in critical condition.

Trenton Pinckard, of Glen Carbon, Ill., was driving a black Chevrolet truck in an illegal street race in the 1400 block of Collins around 10pm Sunday night. The victim, a 17-year-old, was the "flag girl," the person in charge of starting the race.

The unidentified girl was struck first by the second car involved in the race, which pushed her into the path of Pickard's truck, which then ran over her. Both Pinckard and the second suspect fled.

Pinckard was arrested Monday, and charged Tuesday with felony leaving the scene of an accident. St. Louis police have not yet arrested the second man, but say they do have leads to his identity.
