ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Avenue Bridge over Interstate 70 reopened today.
The project is the first of several freeway overpasses set to be rebuilt to feed into the new Mississippi River Bridge interchange.
Greg Horn is director of the project.
"Most people, when they think about the Mississippi River Bridge they think about the bridge across the river the cable-stayed bridge," Horn said, "They don't realize that it takes 31 other projects to make that corridor work and this is the first big project that is completed."
Horn also said that the Madison and Cass Avenue bridges are the next projects in line for replacement.
He said the new bridge's on ramp on the Missouri side will come down at Howard and ninth streets.
The main span is scheduled to be complete in 2014.
