ST. LOUIS – A Republican election commissioner says private security guards did not touch any ballots or interfere with voting Tuesday at the St. Louis City Board of Elections.
Questions about the hiring of a private security firm have been raised by Ed Martin. Martin is a Republican who lost to Democratic Rep. Russ Carnahan in Missouri's 3rd Congressional District.
Martin wants an investigation of the firm's hiring and of what he says are other irregularities in the voting.
The same security firm also worked for Carnahan's campaign. But Republican election commissioner Carol Wilson said only two security guards worked at the Board of Elections headquarters, where they guarded the front door.
