FULTON, Mo. – A man called a person of interest in shootings that killed three people and wounded a fourth in central Missouri continues to elude law enforcement authorities.

The search for 23-year-old Joshua William Maylee began Wednesday after the four people were shot at two separate sites near Holt's Summit.

Police have not disclosed a motive for the shootings. They say the victims were targeted and they believe the gunman acted alone.

The victims were 46-year-old Jeffrey Werdehausen of Holts Summit; 48-year-old Eugene Pinet and 47-year-old Jackie Pinet.

Werdehausen's wife, 41-year-old Gina Werdehausen, was hospitalized in critical condition in Columbia.

UPDATE:
Court records show that one of the three people killed had stored a lawn mower allegedly stolen by the man police are seeking in the slayings.

The records provide a direct link between Eugene Pinet, who died in a shooting Wednesday, and Joshua William Maylee.

Court documents show Maylee already was facing two theft charges. A police probable cause statement says Maylee had previously taken a stolen lawn mower to Pinet's home, near Holts Summit. It is not clear from court documents whether Pinet know the mower was stolen.

UPDATE (as of 2:56 p.m.): Calloway County Police confirm that Maylee has been captured.
