ST. LOUIS – St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley says his recommended budget for next year will not include any layoffs.
Dooley, a Democrat who is running for re-election next month, says his budget will be presented to the County Council by November 1st, as required by statute.
"We gonna work within our budget," Dooley said, "We've always done that and what we've done is cutback some of the positions that wasn't filled, then fill some of jobs that we thought we didn't need any more. But the main purpose is, keep people working because people from St. Louis County expects good service and the only way you can give good service is have people in place to provide it."
Dooley was a guest on "St. Louis on the Air" Tuesday. To hear the entire interview, and that of his opponent, Republican Bill Corrigan, go to our St. Louis on the Air page.
