PINE LAWN, Mo. – St. Louis County prosecuting attorney Bob McCulloch is seeking an investigation into allegations that Pine Lawn's police chief fired a shot at a driver.
McCulloch on Monday asked the county police department to investigate the allegation against Pine Lawn chief Rickey Collins. Detectives from the Division of Criminal Investigation will handle the inquiry.
The shooting happened Saturday. Authorities say Collins reportedly fired a shot at the driver of a vehicle that was being pursued by Pine Lawn officers. The driver had allegedly swerved around a police vehicle to avoid a seatbelt checkpoint and struck an officer.
The driver was not struck by a bullet, but was arrested.
A phone message left for Collins was not immediately returned.
