St. Louis – St. Louis County police have arrested four people they believe are responsible for a series of car break-ins throughout the St. Louis area.
The 40 incidents led to 75 victims. Under FBI crime reporting rules, several similar crimes occurring in the same area are counted as one incident with multiple victims.
County police conducting surveillance at Queeny Park over the weekend saw two men looking into cars in a lot at the park. At least 10 of the break-ins occurred at Queeny. The men drove off in two cars, police officials said, and officers pulled one over, discovering a GPS unit containing the park's address and several other locations where break-ins had been reported.
A search of a hotel room to which the driver had a key led to the arrest of three other adults and the discovery of several checkbooks, debit cards, driver's licenses, and electronic devices.
