Edward Jones donates $1 million to UMSL

By St. Louis Public Radio

ST. LOUIS –

The University of Missouri-St. Louis has announced a $1 million contribution from Edward Jones.

Edward Jones announced that it would dedicate the gift its second million-dollar donation to the College of Business Administration as part of UMSL's Gateway for Greatness Campaign. More than 400 local Edward Jones associates are UMSL alumni.

"The impact that UMSL has had on Edward Jones is tremendous," said Norman Eaker, a principal and chief administrative officer at Edward Jones and a 1977 accounting alumnus. "Helping assure that the university and its business college succeed is important to us, the firm and the greater community we serve."

UMSL Chancellor Tom George said the donation would benefit the University and the community.

"This amazing gift reinforces both the company's and the university's commitment to enhancing the region's business community and providing top-notch, prepared individuals for the area's work force," George said.

The University seeks to raise $25 million for scholarships, endowed professorships and building construction. This latest gift puts the University almost half-way toward its goal.
