Smoking ban passes in Brentwood

By St. Louis Public Radio

St. Louis – Aldermen in the St. Louis suburb of Brentwood have passed an indoor smoking ban.

The board approved the measure 7-1 Monday; it goes into effect January first.

The Brentwood ordinance includes fewer exemptions than a similar ban for all of St. Louis county that takes effect the following day. A smoking ban in St. Louis city also starts at the beginning of the year.

Kirkwood, Clayton, and several other suburbs already prohibit smoking in most indoor public places.
