Lambert to get 'less confusing' signs

Main Terminal to be renamed Terminal One

St. Louis, MO – Travelers in and out of Lambert Airport may soon find the experience a little bit easier.

Starting next month the airport will be putting up new, less-confusing signs, and renaming the airports two terminals as -Terminal One and Terminal two.

Airport Director Richard Hrabko said he's gotten numerous complaints over the years claiming that the airport's current terminal designations of "Main Terminal" and "East Terminal" do not make sense for people new to the area.

"They're confusing," said Hrabko, "as you approach and you're looking for which driveway goes to which terminal it's a confusing sign operation and this will correct it."

St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay says the changes will bring Lambert in line with signage standards used by other airports across the country.

"The renaming of the terminals to do something that doesn't require an internal compass or sense of geography will make it easier for the "directionally challenged," remarked Slay. "Even those who weren't directionally challenged had trouble getting around here in some cases."

The plan also includes new signs at airport entry and exit points off of Interstate 70 as well as better signage directing drivers to passenger pick up, parking and rental car returns.

The first signs will start going up next month. Temporary signage with old and new designations will be available for several months.
