St. Louis – The special agent in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's St. Louis office has gotten a new assignment.
Special Agent in Charge John Gillies will lead the FBI's Miami division, starting in the middle of October. The Miami office is the fifth-largest in the nation.
Gillies has been at the helm of the office for several large political corruption investigations, including the ongoing examination of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's relationship with a local towing company. He also led the investigation that caused two state lawmakers to resign last week after pleading guilty to felony obstruction of justice charges.
Gillies's replacement has not been named.
