Mo. Attorney General website now also in Spanish
By Marshall Griffin, KWMU
Jefferson City, MO – The website for the Missouri Attorney General's office now has a Spanish-language option.
Links at the top and bottom of the agency's page connect people to the new site.
Attorney General Chris Koster says the Spanish-language website does not violate the constitutional amendment that requires governmental business be conducted in English.
"Votes need to be taken in English, debates are in English, but this is a different situation...it is more along the lines of, 'Would you deny fire protection to Spanish-speaking individuals, would you deny police protection?'" Koster said.
Koster also says about 175,000 Missouri residents speak Spanish only, making them the state's third-largest city, figuratively speaking.
